Bloom at the Pence Gallery

I’m so pleased to be part of this exhibition and can’t wait to see the show.

Bloom, March 7-April 20, 2014, Reception: Friday, March 14, 2014 6-9 pm

Flower painting as a genre has long been associated with a staid, traditional style of painting, and
was largely abandoned as a subject during the 20th century.
Eleven contemporary artists delve into the symbolism and form of the flower as a rich subject in their work.
Bloom incorporates surreal paintings by Carrie Lederer, with paired down,
elegant compostitions by Fred Dalkey, Brenda Louie, Ivy Jacobsen, and Stacey Vetter.
The exhibit includes flora by painters Mary Warner, Ann Marie Campbell and Sandy Delehanty,
alongside abstracted compositions by Elaine Bagley Arnoux, Stephen Giannetti, Shirley Hazlett,
and Michaele LeCompte.
